Dinamika Identitas Kebangsaan Generasi Muda Di Era Digital : Antara Budaya Lokal Dan Global

Abstract


The development of digital technology has had a significant impact on how Indonesia's younger generation understands and shapes their national identity. This study aims to explore how young people interpret national identity amid the ongoing trend of digital globalisation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, data was collected from scientific journals, international reports (UNESCO, We Are Social), and relevant academic publications. The results of the study indicate that the national identity of the younger generation is no longer static but undergoes reconstruction through digital interactions on social media. The phenomenon of ‘digital nationalism’ emerges as a new form of attachment to national values, expressed through hashtags, creative content, and virtual solidarity. However, global content dominates digital consumption with a 75% share, while local content only accounts for 25%, indicating a risk of decline in regional languages and local cultural symbols. In this context, national education needs to be revitalised through a communicative and participatory digital approach. This research underscores the importance of collaboration between the education, culture, and technology sectors to shape a relevant national identity in the digital age
