Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of social media "Political TikTok" in shaping the perceptions of first-time voters during the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections among twelfth-grade students at State Senior High School 1 Wedi in 2024. In the context of Indonesian democracy, Generation Z, as first-time voters, has the right to participate in elections and is significantly influenced by advancements in information technology, particularly social media. TikTok, a platform popular among young people, offers a new way to convey political information and interact with prospective leaders. The study formulates the main question: "What is the Role of Social Media 'Political TikTok' on First-Time Voter Perceptions During the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Among Twelfth-Grade Students at State Senior High School 1 Wedi in 2024?" The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data analysis presented in percentage form. This approach combines an in-depth description of social phenomena or human behavior with measurable quantitative information. An area sampling technique (cluster) is applied in this study, dividing a large population into smaller groups or 'clusters.' Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation to obtain a comprehensive picture of young voters' perceptions regarding "Political TikTok." The results indicate that TikTok's role in shaping political perceptions is categorized as good, with a percentage of 78.31%. These findings affirm that TikTok serves not only as an entertainment platform but also as an effective tool for enhancing political awareness and participation among young people. The research provides important insights for political parties and presidential candidates to design more relevant campaign strategies for young voters while highlighting the significance of utilizing social media within Indonesia's electoral context
