The era of globalization is characterized by rapid advancements in technology, swift information exchange, and increasingly intense cross-cultural interactions, all of which have profoundly altered various aspects of life in Indonesia. These changes not only present opportunities for progress but also introduce significant challenges to the integrity of national identity, especially among Generation Z, who are greatly influenced by global cultural exposure. This study investigates the impact of globalization on the preservation of Indonesia’s national identity and examines the risks posed by foreign cultural influences, such as shifts in lifestyle, the declining significance of traditional values, and reduced usage of the Indonesian language. Utilizing a qualitative, literature-based approach, this research scrutinizes academic sources to uncover patterns, trends, and the broader consequences of globalization on national culture and language. The findings suggest that globalization could undermine national identity if it is not balanced with efforts to preserve culture and reinforce national values. This study highlights the necessity of implementing cultural filtering strategies through education and utilizing digital media to sustain cultural elements such as kebaya, batik, and the Indonesian language. Ultimately, the fortification of national identity demands ongoing and focused efforts, particularly from younger generations, to ensure that Indonesia maintains its cultural distinctiveness in an increasingly intricate global environment.
