EXPLORING THE HISTORICAL DYNAMICS AND URGENCY IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF INDONESIAN NATIONAL IDENTITY

Abstract

This research investigates the historical dynamics that influenced the formation of Indonesian national identity and the urgency of understanding this process in the current context. Through analysis of significant historical events, including the period of colonialism, the struggle for independence, and the reform era, this research identifies how various factors such as culture, religion, and politics have shaped complex national identity narratives. In the context of globalization and the challenges of multiculturalism, a deep understanding of the construction of national identity becomes increasingly important. This study highlights the importance of understanding the origins and continuity of historical dynamics in shaping understanding of national identity. By strengthening understanding of this process, societies can better understand their internal diversity and strengthen national solidarity. This research uses an interdisciplinary approach, combining concepts from history, sociology, anthropology, and political science. It is hoped that the findings of this research will provide better insight into the complexity of Indonesia's national identity and its implications for the country's inclusive and sustainable development.
